Makasutu Culture Forest is een goed voorbeeld dat toerisme en milieubescherming hand in hand kunnen gaan. In dit prachtige ecologische bos kan je uren wandelen en genieten van de prachtige natuur om je heen. Verwonder je tijdens de wandeling over de felle kleuren van de grote vlinders die aan je voeten landen en verbaas je over de tropische vogels die het woud rijk is.
Breng een bezoek aan Makasutu’s lokale Marabou (medicijnman).
Leer een palmboom te beklimmen op de manier waarop de palmwijntappers dit al eeuwen doen en proef de Zum-Zum (alcohol houdende palmwijn) ook wel bekend als Jungle Juice. Wees wel gewaarschuwd want dit spul kan zo sterk zijn dat veel mensen hier de beruchte Pink Elephant van gaan zien! Mocht je echter bavianen spotten dan ligt dit niet aan de palmwijn, want bavianen zijn inderdaad in grote getale aanwezig in Makasutu.
Ook een kanotochtje door de mangrovebossen in het park is een aanrader en voert langs lange mangroven wortels en rivieroevers bezaaid met krabben en andere rivierbewoners.
Ter afsluiting kan je van een drankje of hapje genieten in de prachtige buiten Lounge van Makasutu en, als je daar van houdt, een traditionele dans- en djembe (trommel) show bezoeken.
Makasutu Culture Forest is a good example that tourism and environmental protection can go hand in hand. In this splendid ecological forest you can walk for hours and enjoy of the nature. During the walking you will be surprised of the beautiful colors, the large butterflies which land before your feet and the rich variation of species of tropical birds you can see in this forest.
Visit the Makasutu's local Marabou (medicine man)
You can learn to climb a palm tree in the way the local people does this for centuries. Or you can taste the Zum-Zum (alcohol concerning palm wine), also known as a Jungle Juice. Be careful no to drink too much of it, or it can bee you’re gone see pink elephants! You also will find a lot of baboons in Makasutu forest.
A canoe trip trough the mangrove bush is recommended, and conducts you along long mangrove roots and riverbanks with lots of crabs and other river occupants.
At the end of your visit you can drink something or eat a little snack in the splendid Lounge of Makasutu just outside the forest, and in the mean time visit a traditional dancing and djembe drum show.
